August 16, 2021 - Tennessee FFA Ham Breakfast

Our FFA members has the privilege of attending the TN FFA Ham Breakfast Monday morning on the 16th.  They listened to Gov. Bill Lee and Sen. bill Haggerty speak.  They also had the opportunity to meet other FFA members, agriculturists from across the state.

Congratulations, to Bayleigh Kennedy and Trustyn Kemp for being named February Career and Technical Education Students of the Month at Gallatin High School.

Bayleigh was nominated by Amanda Lacy in her Vet. Science class.

March 2, 2020 - CTE Student of the Month for January

Lauren Hopkins and Cody Presson were selected as the Career and Technical Education Students of the Month for January at Gallatin High School.

Lauren is a dedicated student who is willing to help in the classroom as well. Lauren has also been completing a DECA written project, and she will compete in early March in Chattanooga with her team for a chance at Nationals.

Cody is always polite and professional and always willing to help in his Anatomy and Physiology class.

Congratulations again to Lauren Hopkins and Cody Presson on being selected as the CTE Students of the Month for January at GHS.

February 20, 2020 - Gallatin High School Criminal Justice Club Competition

On Friday, February 14, 2020, ten students from the Gallatin High School Criminal Justice Club participated in a Criminal Justice competition at Volunteer State Community College with schools from Davidson County.

Categories included: CSI, DUI, Appellate Court Argument, Trivia, Firearms Simulator, Job Interview, Radio Traffic, Domestic, Traffic Stops and Felony Traffic Stops.

GHS Criminal Justice Club students finished the competition 1st overall.

They placed 1st in the following categories: Trivia, Job Interview, CSI, Traffic Stop, and Radio Communication.

GHS also placed second in DUI, Domestic, Simulator and Felony Traffic Stops.

February 3, 2020 - CTE Student of the Month for December 2019

Moriah Jayden Nevels, Maddie Tuttle, and Harrison Wims were selected as the Career and Technical Education Students of the Month for December at Gallatin High School.

Harrison was selected by Becky Morgan in Ag. Bio-Science and Engineering.  Moriah and Maddie were nominated by Lynda Love in Computer Applications.

December 9, 2019 - CTE Student of the Month for November 2019

Congratulations to Caitlin Lehtola and Jaliyah Webb for being selected as the Career and Technical Education Students of the Month for November at Gallatin High School. Jaliyah was nominated by Kathleen Homer in Intro to Human Studies and Caitlin by Amy Flowers in Health Education.

 November 19, 2019 - CTE Fieldrip to the Corvette Museaum

In November, Career and Technical education students at Gallatin High School were able to get some real-world experience out of the normal classroom setting. Machining, Drafting, and Auto-Tech classes from GHS visited the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. Classes heard from museum guides about the history, design, manufacturing process, and business end of the GM plant in Bowling Green. The Business and Marketing Departments at GHS also recently took a field trip to the Tennessee Titans Learning Lab held at Nissan Stadium. Students heard from personnel and executives and were introduced to different types of jobs in professional sports during their time at the stadium.

November 7, 2019 - CTE Student of the Month for October 2019

The Gallatin High School CTE students of the month for October are Staci Burch, Miracle Young, and Sabrina Romans.

Staci was nominated by Coach Greg Harper in Criminal Justice. Coach Sean Corbitt nominated Miracle in Intro to Marketing. Sabrina was nominated by Mr. Yancey Gregory in Computer Science Foundations.

October 29, 2019 - All-State Musical Theatre

Gallatin High School senior, Emily Dismukes, daughter of Pennie and Chris Dismukes, has been selected to All-State Theatre in the area of Musical Theatre. Emily auditioned on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Stewart's Creek High School in Rutherford County. She performed the song "Safer" from the musical First Date, as well as a monologue from The Fantasticks. She received callbacks from 9 different colleges and was chosen All-State Musical Theatre. Emily is the only student from Sumner County selected for this honor.

September 16, 2019 - CTE Student of the Month for September 2019

The Career and Technical Education Students of the Month for September are Kaleb Galbreath and Z J Johnson.

Kaleb was selected by Coach Madison his Advanced Machining teacher. Kaleb’s effort and attention to detail make him excel in the class and why he would excel in the trade as well. (pictured left)

ZJ is hard working and one of the first people under the hood of a car in Auto Tech. He works well with others and is excited about what he is doing according to Mr. Preston. (pictured right)

Congratulations to Markeria Carey, Brooksie Brawner, and Dallas Blankenship the Career and Technical Education Students of the Month for March at Gallatin High School. The students were nominated for their exceptional classwork and dedication in the classroom. Markeria was nominated by Chef Greg West in Culinary Arts. March 25, 2019 - CTE Student of the Month for February 2019

The following students were selected as February Career and Technical Education Students of the Month at Gallatin High School.

Sammy Roberts was nominated in Veterinary Science Clinical Internship. The internships are at local veterinary clinic facilities are in Gallatin and are available as upper level courses.

Shiphrah Hallman was nominated in Introduction to Business and Marketing. The course helps students prepare for the growing complexities of the business world by examining basic principles of business, marketing, and finance in addition to exploring key aspects of leadership, ethical and social responsibilities, and careers.

February 28, 2019 - CTE Student of the Month for January 2019

The Career and Technical Education Student of the Month for January at Gallatin High School is Mekhi Johnson.

Mekhi was nominated by Mrs. Wendy Vincent in the Health Science Department. Mekhi has a love for Health Science and it shows in her work ethic in the classroom. Currently Mekhi is involved in clinical internships and she is a senior at GHS.

Congratulations to Kat Corey and Rolando Rangel on being the Career and Technical Students of the Month for November at Gallatin High School.

Amy Howell nominated Rolando in Health Science. Rolando is hard working and always respectful of others according to his teacher.

Kat was nominated by Kathleen Homer in her Lifespan course. Kat came up with the idea of holding a “Hopesgiving” for foster children. She worked extremely hard to get all the donations and put the event together.

The Career and Technical Education Students of the Month for October are Cameron Tisdale, Avery Bradley, and Madison Claire Butler.

Cameron was nominated by Mr. Yancey Gregory in Computer Science Foundations. Cameron does consistent work and is open to new ideas and projects that come up in class.

Avery has good attendance, is hard working, and has great grades in her Intro to Marketing class with Coach Sean Corbitt.

Madison Claire also has outstanding grades and is very engaged in all Criminal Justice activities according to her teacher Coach Greg Harper.

November 6, 2018 - Donation from Goodall

Gallatin High School would like to thank Goodall Homes for their donation to the GHS Student Assistance Program that helps students who are identified throughout the year as being in need. This donation will help provide much needed assistance to grateful students during this holiday season. November 19, 2018 - GHS Alum Earning FFA Degree

Two former Gallatin High School students are continuing their pursuit of excellence through Future Farmers of America. On Oct 27, 2018 at the 91st National FFA Convention Taylor Smith  (GHS Class of 2017 - pictured on the left) and Irion Peterson (GHS Class of 2016 - pictured on the right) each received their American Degree. This is the highest Degree that an individual can receive in the FFA. Only 1% of all FFA members will receive their American Degree. This year there was only 169 Tennessee FFA members to receive their American Degrees. Congratulations again to these former GHS students.

November 8, 2018 - Trunk or Treat

The CDC special needs Trunk-or-Treat continues to be a success at Gallatin High School thanks to GHS HOSA. This year’s event was hosted at GHS on October 30th. The Trunk-or-Treat was started four years ago to provide a safe and understanding environment for these students and has grown bigger and better every year. Many of these students have physical limitations that make going door to door difficult or have dietary needs that do not allow them to eat typical Halloween candy. The Trunk-or-Treat provides a safe environment for the students, so they can come and just have a great time being kids. GHS HOSA would like to thank all those who helped make the night a success and looks forward to watching it grow in the future.

October 26, 2018 - CTE September Students-of-the-Month

The Career and Technical Education Students-of-the-Month for September at GHS are Mason Meador (senior) and Dakota McCart (sophomore).

Mason was nominated by Mr. Ricky Robertson in Maintenance and Light Repair IV. This course prepares students for entry into the automotive workforce or into postsecondary training. Mason goes the extra mile to help others and shows pride in all his work.

Dakota is detail oriented. He does accurate and complete work in his AED I class with Coach Mike Madison. Architecture and Engineering Design is a foundational course in the architecture and construction cluster for students interested in a variety of engineering and design professions.

Congratulations to Hannah Hatley, Bryan Schoonover, and Kayli Lucas for being Career and Technical Education Students-of-the-Month for March at Gallatin High School.  

Hannah was nominated by Ms. Kim Foster, her Marketing II teacher. Hannah completed a wonderful State DECA project this semester and is extremely hard working and responsible in the classroom.

Bryan has been involved in Culinary Arts for the past three years and always gives 100% in his tasks and is willing to help others, according to Chef Greg West.,

Kayli is self-motivated and an integral part of the GHS yearbook staff. She strives for excellence in all she does. Kayli was nominated by Mr. Loyd Smith.

March 21, 2018 - DECA Attends State Conference

Gallatin High School DECA club recently attended its annual State Conference in Chattanooga, Tennessee. GHS took fifteen students to participate in the business events. March 6, 2018 - CTE February Student-of-the-Month

Congratulations to Seniors Arlantez Foster and Michaela Thompson, the February Career and Technical Education Students of the Month.

According to her teacher Mrs. Lacy, “Michaela goes above and beyond to make everyone feel a part of the class. Leadership Development is a course for students interested in learning more about the attributes and skills of successful leaders in the Agriculture industry. This course covers behavior, management, communication, and leadership topics.

Arlantez is hard working and self-motivated. In his Business Management class, he is respectful of his peers and teacher. Business Management focuses on the development of the planning, organizing, leading, and controlling functions required for the production and delivery of goods and services in business.

February 20, 2018 - CTE January Student-of-the-Month

Senior Briana Rickman is the January Career and Technical Education Student-of-the-Month at Gallatin High School. Briana is taking Anatomy and Physiology with Mrs. Vincent. Mrs. Wendy Vincent says, “Briana has come a long way since her first Health Science class and is very determined both in the classroom and out.”

Anatomy and Physiology is designed to develop an understanding of the structures and functions of the human body, while relating those to the causes of diseases and disorders. Brianna is a part of the Clinical Internships, as well, this semester.

Gallatin High School DECA students recently competed in Districts at Long Hollow. Over half of those competing qualified for state competition for the Green Wave. These GHS students placed at DECA district:

Students-of-the-Month for December in Career and Technical Education at Gallatin High School are junior, Alex Spore, and freshman, Jaylen Grimmett.

Jaylen was nominated by Mrs. Lynda Love, his Computer Applications teacher. According to Mrs. Love, Jaylen is first to help others who might need assistance and he also has perfect attendance.

Alex is becoming an active member in FFA and working on projects both, before and after school, according to Mr. Jason Everette, his Agriscience teacher.

The November Career and Technical students-of-the-month at Gallatin High School are Laura Beth Brewer and Sabrina Romans.

Laura Beth is a sophomore and was nominated by Mrs. Amy Howell in the Health Science Department. Health Science Education is an introduction that serves as a foundation for Health Care Occupations and functions across health services.

Mrs. Charlene Jackson nominated Sabrina who is also a sophomore from her Lifespan Development class. Lifespan Development builds basic knowledge in human growth and development.

December 2, 2017 - Martketing and Business Students Visit the Titans Learning Lab

Our marketing and business students recently visited the Tennessee Titans Learning Lab at Nissan Stadium.  This day long field trip allowed our students to get an indepth look at the operations of this large football organization.  This Lab included a behind-the-scenes tour of Nissan Stadium.  A few hightlights of the tour included the locker room, postgame interview room, press box, club level, suites and service department.  Titans employees from multiple departments of the organization led discussions that explained their responsibilities and gave students information on how their career began.

November 1, 2017 - HOSA Blood Drive

The Red Cross and GHS HOSA held a Blood Drive recently at GHS.  About 30 students assisted in setting up the Blood Drive and throughout the event.

October 25th, 2017 - GreenWave Festival

The Gallatin Green Wave Festival for the 2017 school year was recently held on October 4th. Students who sold over $300 for the 2017 Magazine Drive could participate. Students enjoyed a day of free icees, pizza, and candy while being able to play games and relax. Board games, video games and sports activities were enjoyed for close to one hundred students throughout the day. An additional one hundred were able to spend an hour out of class and also earned an icee for their part in the drive for having a $25 turn in. The students finished the day off with a movie in the GHS theatre.

October 24, 2017 - CTE October Student of the Month

Gallatin High School Career and Technical Education Students of the Month for October are Ronnekai Banks, Gage Mash, and Nathan Sullivan.

Coach Greg Harper says Ms. Banks is an outstanding student who never misses assignments and participates in all class discussions in his Criminal Justice course. Criminal Justice I, serves as a comprehensive study of how the law enforcement, legal, and correctional systems interact with each other in the United States. Investigative skills will be developed in the areas of drug use, incident documentation and basic crime scene investigation.

Gage is always willing to help when needed and exceeds expectations in his Landscaping and Turf Management class according to his teacher Mrs. Rebecca Myers. Landscaping and Turf Science is designed to prepare students to work in the landscaping industry. This course provides students with the technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for a further education and careers in landscape production.

Nathan has great grades, a positive attitude, and works well with others in both the Business classes he takes with Mr. Yancey Gregory. Introduction to Business and Marketing helps students prepare for the growing complexities of the business world by examining basic principles of business, marketing, and finance in addition to exploring key aspects of leadership, ethical and social responsibilities, and careers. Computer Applications I, is a foundational course intended to teach students the computing fundamentals and concepts involved in the proficient use of common application software.

October 3, 2017 - CTE September Student-of-the-Month

The winners for September CTE Students-of-the-Month are Randy Holland and Rivers Hanna. The winners come from the Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics Program of Study and Advanced Engineering Program of Study. According to his teacher Mr. Ricky Robertson, “Randy has one of the best attitudes and always goes the extra mile to get his work completed.” In Maintenance and light Repair III, students study and service suspension and steering systems and brake systems. Upon completing all of the Maintenance and Light Repair courses, students may enter automotive service industry as an ASE Certified MLR Technician.  

Mike Madison says this about Rivers, “he is continuously seeking to gain extra knowledge to advance his machine experiences.” Principles of Machining II stresses the concepts and practices of a production environment. Emphasis is also placed on quality control, safety and engineering codes and standards, and production-grade machining systems.

September 21, 2017 - FFA

The Gallatin FFA Soil Judging team won Fist Place in their district competition. The team competed in the Middle Tennessee Soil Judging contest on September 21 where they took the district win and ranked 12th in the region. Tennessee FFA held the competition at the Tennessee State University Nursery Research Center in McMinnville, TN. During the competition team members use their knowledge of soil morphological feathers to evaluate a sample.

September 18, 2017 - Culinary Arts

The culinary arts classes held a soft opening earlier this month in coordination with the Green Wave Magazine Drive.  Led by Chef West, the culinary classes offered items such as pizza, cinnamon rolls, macaroni and cheese, as well as drinks to classes.  The classes who were able to attend the first opening of the school year needed to have 100% participation in the magazine turn-in.  A total of thirty-three classes were able to attend the opening.
